Class Underwriter Competency Assessment

Please read these instructions before rating

Purpose

This questionnaire provides a systematic way of rating individuals on the competencies that are related to effective performance as an underwriter. Individuals can rate themselves using the questionnaire. It can also be completed by the supervisor, staff, or peers of the person being rated. The results are used to aid professional development and career planning.

Confidentiality

Your answers will be confidential. Individual ratings will not be released to the person being rated or to anyone else in the organisation without your permission.
This information will only be valuable if you provide truly accurate ratings.

Please note:
This facility is for the user's internal processes only. No data is stored on this website.

Accuracy

Please be frank and honest in your ratings. Put down your true assessment of the person you are rating.

Instructions

Please use the following statement as the basis for rating each item:

This person demonstrates the characteristic in an effective way, whenever opportunities arise.

Think about the person you are rating in comparison to others doing the same job.

Using this system, you should provide a low rating (1 or 2) under any of the following conditions:

If the person:

  • rarely demonstrates the behaviour, though there are opportunities to do so;
  • rarely demonstrates the behaviour, because there are few opportunities to do so in the job;
  • does demonstrate the behaviour but in an ineffective way.

Using this rating system, give a higher rating (6), only if the person frequently demonstrates the behaviour, in an effective way.

Please mark the number to indicate your rating in the box to the left of each item.

Be sure to rate each item.

You may be unsure how to rate some items, but please still provide a rating. The questionnaire cannot be scored unless all items are rated.
