Underwriter Roles

At each level of an underwriter's career, roles will change and develop along with increasing levels of responsibility.  

Defining the key components of each role, along with the key results that will be expected from such roles, will help to identify appropriate competencies that can lead to superior performance.

The tools in this section offer guidance as to the role requirements expected of underwriters as they progress through their careers, along with appropriate competencies that are graded in such a way as to demonstrate how performance may be improved.

For Class and Senior Underwriters, competencies are graded from "Below Standard" to "Very Strong". For Junior Underwriters, competencies are only graded from "Below Standard" to "Strong", given that such people will be relatively short on experience.
